The red one is a trillium. I think it has a common name, like stinking benjamin, but I am not sure on that. I do know that the painted trilliums, the pink and white striped ones are endangered.
You are right, Kathy. I didn't know that the painted trilliums were endangered. We haven't found any on us but there used to be some nearby. I do know that trilliums grow underground for about 8 years before they send up shoots. I do not know how long it takes for them to blossom. The other flower is one of my favorites but I will wait to see if anyone else can identify it before I list it. Ron
We are proud parents of three grown boys and one baby grandson (who have all immigrated to Pennsylvania). You can often find us hiking or snowshoeing in our back woods, if we are not traveling to visit our family.
